A Laptop that can run SIMS 2 ?

I am going to give my granddaughter a laptop as a birthday gift. But she also wants to use it to play SIMS 2. Does anyone know what specs I should look for in the laptop? How powerful should the graphics card be in order to run SIMS 2 without a hitch (I have a budget, so I really don't want to use overkill).
It will probably have Windows 7 OS, 3 or 4 GB RAM, and 320 GB hard disk.
Any knowledgeable advice would be greatly appreciated.
